WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO KNOW —
- MARCH TO THE MANGER — The March to the Manger is a symbol of our coming to Christ at Christmas with our gift, just like the Wise Men. The Administrative Council will decide in January who we will help with these funds.
- POINSETTAS So what does a poinsettia have to do with Christmas? One interpretation of the plant is as a symbol of the Star of Bethlehem, the heavenly body that led the three magi, or wise men, to the place where Christ was born. A Mexican legend tells of a girl who could only offer weeds as a gift to Jesus on Christmas Eve. When she brought the weeds into a church, they blossomed into the beautiful red plants we know as poinsettias, known as Flores de Noche Buena in Mexico (Spanish for “flowers of the holy night”).
- THANKS TO ALL who helped with the decorating at the church and across the street. The City of Kinmundy has declared that we are the best decorated church this year! We hear from Facebook that what is most appreciated is our stained glass windows, which blesses us all year long.
- EVERY PERSON connected to our church remains a part of our church family and the history of our church forever. Sometimes people move away and over the years, join another church and we are not aware. We are going through the membership book alphabetically for Kinmundy first, listing four names each week for prayer. Our prayer families this week are: Cecelia Powless, Sarah Powless, Brenna Randall, Aaron Robb
- CONGRATULATIONS to Antoine & Jamie Kennedy on the birth of their daughter, AVERIEE JOYCE BELINDA KENNEDY. Averiee was born December 10 and weighed 9 lbs12 oz. She was welcomed home by siblings, Antoine Jr, Ava and Ayden. Grandparents are Larry & Ruth Hebron, and great-grandparents, Larry & Patsy Hebron. (Joyce is great-grandma Patsy’s middle name).
- MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR from the staff to everyone at KUMC & Wesley UMC. Thank you for all the kindness that you show us throughout the year.
