WEDNESDAY@WESLEY BIBLE STUDY
FOR THIS WEEK – Nov 7, 2018: John 2:13-25. The Uproar at the Temple
Discussion Questions:
#1. Imagine the scene: the Court of the Gentiles is 860 feet square – almost 3 football fields. Some 300,000 to 400,000 pilgrims flooded Jerusalem for the Passover, requiring the death of thousands upon thousands of sacrificial animals. (vv. 13-14)
#2. What would it be like to walk onto such a scene at your church property? How would you feel? (vv. 13-14)
#3. What exactly did Jesus do? (vv. 15-17)
#4. What was Jesus feeling, in your opinion? What did he say? (vv. 15-17)
#5. How does this make sense? Can you imagine yourself ever feeling or acting like Jesus? (vv. 13-17)
#6. Jesus is asked to justify his actions. What does Jesus offer them? What do his words about the temple mean? (vv. 18-21)
#7. What could Jesus’ words about the temple mean for us today, if we take them seriously? (vv. 19, 21-22)
#8. What does it mean for us today about Jesus trusting people? (vv. 23-25)
While we will have Bibles on hand, you might wish to bring your favorite bible from home. Familiar tools help us do our work well!
We meet at 7 pm Wednesdays at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 3381 Kinoka Road between Kinmundy and Patoka, Illinois.
Nov 14, 2018: John 3:1-15. Nicodemus: “You must be born again.”
WE WILL NOT MEET the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, November 21.
